If you’re trying to cut back on Oreo cookies, maybe you could just eat Mini-Oreos instead. Each is a little over half the diameter of a regular Oreo and weighs only a fifth as much. On the other hand, Nabisco says it developed the bite-sized version because consumers said they loved to eat Oreos “by the handful.”

Wherever they go, transplanted New Yorkers bemoan the absence of egg creams. The Boston Chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs gourmet society has probably smashed every remaining gastronomic taboo. Its dinner last October showcased an appetizer of goose liver in three forms, “one bound in cabbage and dipped in poppy seed, another rolled in black pepper, the third rolled in brioche and fried. The sauce was a blend of bittersweet chocolate, Port wine, Sherry vinegar and vanilla oil.”
