BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Braves’ Justice Is 0 for 4 in Return
- Share via
The Atlanta Braves activated outfielder David Justice from the 15-day disabled list. He had been on the list since suffering from a strained lower back.
Justice was in the lineup, batting fourth Monday night in the Braves’ game against the Chicago Cubs. He was 0 for 4. Before being placed on the DL, he had only one hit in his previous 17 at-bats.
To make room for Justice, the Braves designated infielder-outfielder Steve Lyons for assignment, saying they would try to trade Lyons.
The Texas Rangers purchased the contract of right-hander Todd Burns from triple-A Oklahoma and designated catcher Doug Davis for assignment. Burns, 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts for Oklahoma City, was the Rangers’ final cut in spring training.
