Judge Sets Date to Auction UPI: A federal bankruptcy judge authorized the auction of United Press International and set a hearing for May 12 to consider bids for the news agency. The hearing will be held in Rutland, Vt., where Bankruptcy Judge Francis Conrad usually sits. He has been a visiting judge in New York, where UPI’s bankruptcy is pending, because of vacancies at that court. Conrad ordered that sealed bids for the 85-year-old news agency be submitted to UPI by May 11.
