Glendale’s Padilla Will Run for Adams State in Colorado

Grace Padilla, a distance runner from Glendale College, has signed a letter of intent to attend Adams State, choosing the Colorado school over UC Irvine, Fresno State, Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge. She canceled a recruiting trip to Northridge after visiting Adams State last Thursday.
Last fall, Padilla, a transfer from East Los Angeles College, placed fifth in the state junior college cross-country championships to lead Glendale to a third-place finish. She qualified in the 800, 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 for the state track and field championships for East L.A. last spring.
Volleyball players Travis Ferguson of Royal High and Kevin Cochran of Nordhoff last week made commitments to attend four-year colleges next fall.
Ferguson, a 5-foot-11 setter, gave UC San Diego a commitment Thursday. Cochran, a 6-foot outside hitter, signed a letter of intent with Pepperdine a day earlier.
Ferguson is a two-time All-Southern Section selection and a four-year starter.
Cochran, also a four-year starter, made the All-Southern Section 2-A Division team as a sophomore and holds virtually every school record for hitting and setting.
