Prudential Expands Into Canada

The Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Inc., a nationwide residential real estate brokerage based in Costa Mesa, expanded into Canada last week--picking up 34 franchise offices in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.
Prudential Real Estate, a subsidiary of the Prudential Insurance Co. of America, headquartered in Newark, N.J., awarded its first international franchise to the real estate division of Central Guaranty Trust Co. The Nova Scotia-based real estate chain took the name of its new franchiser.
Prudential Real Estate, founded in 1987, has about 900 offices throughout the United States. “Prudential Insurance has been a well-known name in Canada for 80 years,” said Ron Tepper, spokesman for the real estate subsidiary. “This is a natural extension for us.”
