Bally Announces Sale of Reno Resort: Bally Manufacturing Corp. sold its Reno hotel casino to Harveys Wagon Wheel Inc. Harveys said it will pay $70 million cash and assume some of its liabilities. The sale is subject to the approval of Nevada gaming regulators and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the district of New Jersey. Bally’s Grand Inc., the Bally subsidiary that operates the casinos in Reno and Las Vegas, is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Tom Yturbide, chief operating officer of Harveys, said the company plans to convert the 2,000-room hotel into northern Nevada’s first family-oriented destination resort along the lines of Las Vegas’ Mirage and Excalibur.
