SANTA MONICA : City Council OKs Alcohol Restrictions for Pier
- Share via
The Santa Monica City Council this week approved an alcohol policy for the redevelopment of Santa Monica Pier. The policy mandates the use of official, disposable cups for beer purchased over the counter in fast-food restaurants, forbids future fast-food tenants from selling alcohol, forbids its sale at stands with only counters and no inside seating and calls for no liquor to be sold outside eating establishments.
The most contentious part of the pier alcohol policy--the number of alcohol outlets and how many customers they may serve--was postponed until the council considers a citywide policy after studying the issue.
The policy was approved on a vote of 4 to 3.
