Marina Beats Edison, 9-4, to Gain Playoff Berth

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Nick D’Amato’s two-run single helped key a six-run fourth inning as Marina overcame a four-run deficit to beat Edison, 9-4, in a Sunset League playoff game Saturday at Ocean View High.

The victory gave Marina third place in the league and a berth in the Southern Section playoffs.

Sean Connors (1-3) pitched four innings of two-hit shutout relief for the Vikings (12-15, 7-6). He also had two doubles, drove in two runs and scored once. Joe Snyder added a sixth-inning home run.

The Chargers (10-13, 6-7) scored twice in the first on singles by Josh Warren and Ryan Belitz. Edison increased its lead in the second when Matt Harrell doubled in Adam Cancelleri and Harrell scored on Mike Hanoian’s single.
