Ponce Paces University in Softball Victory

IRVINE — Michele Ponce allowed two hits in six innings and struck out 10 as University defeated Redondo, 15-0, in a Southern Section 3-A wild-card softball game Wednesday at University High School.

Nicole Shammas was two for five and drove in four runs for the Trojans (18-10), who will play at Laguna Hills for a first-round game Friday.

Redondo, which made 10 errors, finished the season 11-10.
