NATIONAL CITY : Boy Faces Reduced Charge in Killing
- Share via
The judge considering the case of a 14-year-old National City boy accused of shooting his father to death reduced the charge against the youth Thursday from murder to manslaughter.
The slain father, Lepolious Miller III, had been under a court order not to discipline his children, whom he allegedly abused. Custody of the boy and his younger brother had been transferred to the boy’s mother and stepfather.
Hours before the Oct. 28 shooting, Miller spanked the boy because he hid a report card containing a failing grade. The boy’s identity has been withheld during proceedings in Juvenile Court.
Judge Federico Castro is schedule to announce a verdict by June 11.
