DMI Plans Expansion: DMI Inc., an Irvine manufacturer of optical systems that store archival data, has signed up the Coopers & Lybrand accounting firm to assist with an acquisition program.
DMI, which recently introduced a computer storage system aimed at replacing microfiche systems in libraries, said it hired Coopers as part of an expansion plan.
DMI also said it signed a multimillion-dollar contract with Optical Systems Integration in Laguna Niguel, which will market DMI’s products in the minicomputer market. OSI is the fourth marketing company that has agreed to sell DMI’s Archival Retrieval System.
Using optical-disk storage similar to the compact disks that store recorded music, DMI’s system stores and retrieves infrequently used data, the company said.
