Council Candidate Gives His Views

Charles M. House, 56, one of 16 candidates for City Council in Tuesday’s Hacienda Heights incorporation election, returned The Times’ telephone calls after the deadline for a May 24 story about the election.
House, a 23-year resident of Hacienda Heights, is an operations sergeant in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He pledged, if elected, to provide “in-your-face government,” saying the County Board of Supervisors has ignored lingering problems such as graffiti removal and tree trimming.
House said he would “hold the reins on spending” by encouraging volunteerism and the use of rented facilities for council meetings. House emphasized his experience as a fund-raiser for the American Heart Assn., Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and a La Puente foundation for mentally handicapped children.
Candidate Rudy Almeida did not return calls.
