Microwave Clothes Dryer Introduced: Southern California Edison announced that an Oregon research company it has sponsored has developed prototypes for a microwave clothes dryer that use 10% less energy and are about 35% faster than conventional electric dryers. The prototypes were built by American Micro-Tech Inc., which said the appliances have passed initial tests established by the Department of Energy. Edison said an independent testing firm in Huntington Beach has verified the energy savings.
