Glendale : May Co. at Galleria OKd

The Glendale Redevelopment Agency on Tuesday unanimously approved final design plans for construction of a three-story May Co. to replace the former Buffum’s department store at the Glendale Galleria.
The new store will be 180,000 square feet, twice as large as the current two-story structure at the northwest corner of Central Avenue and Colorado Street. The St. Louis-based May Stores purchased the site after Buffum’s went bankrupt last year. But company officials said the current building, which opened in 1976, is too small and will be razed.
