Royal’s Ferguson Named 3-A MVP

Royal setter Travis Ferguson has been selected the Southern Section 3-A Division boys’ volleyball player of the year.
Ferguson, a 5-foot-11 senior who will play for UC San Diego next year, led Royal to the 3-A championship and set school records for assists (2,896), digs (391), aces (710) and service points (710).
Pitcher Nancy Evans of Hoover has been named the Southern Section 4-A Division softball co-player of the year and pitcher Michelle St. Pierre of La Reina has been named the 1-A player of the year.
Evans, a junior, shared honors with Foothill senior catcher Kelly Green. Evans was 23-4 and pitched two perfect games.
St. Pierre, a junior, was 16-4, with 137 strikeouts in 130 innings.
