SIMI VALLEY : Public Invited to Discuss Kadota Fig
- Share via
The Kadota Fig Area Study Committee will accept public comments Thursday on whether the city should adopt new development rules for a rural section of Simi Valley where some residents keep farm animals and grow vegetables.
The nine-member committee will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Community Room at Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. The panel will accept public comments for the final time before forwarding its recommendations to the Simi Valley City Council.
At issue is Kadota Fig, a 450-acre area bounded by Alamo Street on the north, Tapo Canyon Road on the west, Stearns Street on the east and Leeds Street on the south. The Simi Valley Freeway runs through the center of the neighborhood.
In a survey in July, most property owners said the area north of the freeway should retain its rural character. But landowners south of the freeway were divided. Some said the area should be designated for housing, while others favored commercial development.
