Scott Patton, All-South Coast League outfielder at Capistrano Valley High School, signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox and will report on Friday to the club’s Rookie League team at Sarasota, Fla., according to his father, Eric.
Patton batted .369 with four home runs, 20 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases this season at Capistrano Valley. He was named most valuable player in the Orange County all-star game last week after a single, two walks and four stolen bases.
“Scott had his mind set on playing professional baseball and the White Sox made a great offer,” Eric Patton said.
Patton was a fourth-round selection and was signed by scout Mike Sgobba.
