Dell Shares Plunge on PC Price War Fears: Dell Computer Chief Executive Michael Dell said the company will introduce a new line personal computers next week that will be significantly cheaper than the recently introduced machines from archrival Compaq. But Dell officials also told analysts attending the company’s annual meeting that continuing price competition could make it difficult to meet earnings goals. Dell stock dropped sharply on the news, falling $5.375 to $15.75 in heavy over-the-counter trading.
