Substitutions at Bowl: Tendinitis has forced pianist Alfred Brendel to cancel his July appearances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, according to a Philharmonic spokesperson. Replacing him in Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto on the official opening July 7 is Andre Watts, while Peter Frankl plays Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on July 9.
