West Hollywood : Lang Assumes Mayor’s Post

Councilwoman Babette Lang became West Hollywood’s new mayor on Monday as part of an annual reshuffling of the council.
Lang was elected to the council in 1990. She became mayor pro tem last July and occasionally filled in for former Mayor Paul Koretz.
Lang, a practicing psychologist, has taken a special interest in rent control, fine arts and issues affecting women and senior citizens.
The job is largely ceremonial, although the mayor runs the televised biweekly council meetings.
Colleagues elected council maverick Sal Guarriello as mayor pro tem.
