LANCASTER : Fox Airfield Study OKd by Supervisors
- Share via
Los Angeles County supervisors agreed Tuesday to help fund a $300,000 study on the feasibility of developing an industrial corridor around the Wm. J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster.
In an agreement with the city of Lancaster, the Lancaster Redevelopment Agency and the Lancaster Economic Development Corp., the county will contribute $100,000 for the study.
Representatives from the county, city and the other agencies will comprise a task force to oversee the study which will determine, among other things, whether the airport should be expanded from a general aviation facility into a commercial commuter airport.
Because of its location, Fox Airfield is certain to be surrounded by more development in the near future, county officials believe. Through the study they intend to ensure that development will be compatible with the airport traffic.
