SAN DIEGO : Stabbing Victim Dies on Stairway

A 27-year-old Logan Heights man was stabbed to death early Sunday morning on the stairway to an apartment complex at 1039 S. 31st St., San Diego police reported. Martin Olmeda, an unemployed resident of National Avenue, died at the scene despite efforts of paramedics, who were flagged down by neighbors and asked for help. Police earlier had been called to the area around 31st Street and National Avenue after receiving reports of shots being fired. They found no evidence of gunfire and could not say whether that report was linked to the stabbing death of Olmeda.

There are no suspects.
