The San Diego County medical examiner has been unable to identify the man shot and killed by a police officer Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The man was shot after he reportedly pointed a gun at an officer attempting to question him about a shooting in Sherman Heights, police said.
The truck had been stopped by a motorcycle officer at 24th and Market streets because it matched the description of the truck involved in the wounding of Juan Edmundson about three blocks away. The driver died at UC San Diego Medical Center.
Edmundson was treated at UC San Diego Medical Center for a gunshot wound in his arm and released. Police are scheduled to release the name of the officer involved in the shooting today.
