Fullerton : District to Charge for Riding School Bus
- Share via
The Fullerton Elementary School District voted unanimously this week to impose fees on students who take the bus to school.
The payment system will begin in October, giving school authorities one month from the time the academic year starts to inform parents about the arrangement.
District officials hope that the new charges will raise $265,000 in revenue for the 1992-93 school year.
It will cost $180 for two children from each family to ride the bus.
The charge for a third child in a family will be an additional $130, and any other children may ride district buses for free.
Provisions will be made for children whose parents cannot afford the new fees, said Bill Moore, assistant superintendent for the business services division.
