THOUSAND OAKS : Brush Fire Burns 20 Hillside Acres
- Share via
A fire scorched 20 acres of dry, brush-covered hills in Thousand Oaks on Monday before being extinguished by firefighters.
About 140 Ventura County firefighters fought the blaze, which broke out shortly after 4 p.m. on a hill northwest of the Newbury Park Adventist Academy, a private school on Academy Drive, Fire Department spokesman Dan Preston said. It was contained in about an hour and a half.
None of the residents were evacuated from a cluster of homes located about half a mile away, he said.
Fire officials were investigating a report that someone may have set off rockets in the dry brush.
