Semtech Corp. Profits Fall 64% in Quarter

Semtech Corp., a Newbury Park maker of electronic components, posted a 64% decline in profits for its fiscal second quarter on a 28% drop in revenue compared with a year ago.
For the three months ended Aug. 2, Semtech said it earned $150,000, down from $417,000 a year ago. Its revenue dropped to $5.17 million, from $7.16 million. The company said orders for military and aerospace products remained sluggish.
For the six months ended Aug. 2, Semtech’s earnings plunged 64%, to $302,000 from $842,000 a year earlier. The company’s revenue during those two quarters fell 31%, to $10.2 million from $14.8 million a year ago.
