Two power outages, one in Torrance and the other in downtown Los Angeles, left 1,680 Southern California Edison customers without electricity Monday.
The first outage occurred about 4 p.m. in Torrance, leaving customers without power near Hawthorne and Lomita boulevards, an Edison spokeswoman said. That power failure affected about 180 customers, including Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Power was restored in about 45 minutes.
Just after 4 p.m., a second system failure cut power to about 1,500 customers around La Cienega and Venice boulevards. Most had their power returned in about an hour and the service was expected to be restored by the end of the day.
