Authorities have identified a woman fatally shot during a family argument at a Burbank apartment as Maria Guadalupe Torres, 28, of Burbank. She died late Thursday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, said Lt. Larry Koch of the Burbank Police Dept.
The suspected killer, Ricardo Rodriguez, 32, of Pomona, is still at large, Koch said. Police said Rodriguez killed Torres, his sister-in-law, and shot his estranged wife, Angelina Rodriguez, 23, of Burbank, who was listed in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her head.
Rodriguez told a family member that he was planning to reconcile with his estranged wife, but the meeting turned violent and Rodriguez shot the women in the apartment they shared in the 300 block of Providencia Avenue, police said.
Rodriguez was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes and a thin mustache. He was dressed in a short-sleeve beige shirt, brown pants, a white cowboy hat, boots and a large silver belt buckle, police said.
Rodriguez was last seen in a reddish-brown, 1987 Dodge Colt with California license plate 3ABV514, police said.
Authorities believe Rodriguez may have fled to Oakland, Ontario or Mexico.
