Attorneys for University of Miami receiver Lamar Thomas, indicted Aug. 18 on charges stemming from a financial-aid scandal, obtained a last-minute legal agreement that cleared him to play in tonight’s season opener at Iowa.
Under an agreement with the U.S. attorney’s office, the cases of Thomas and reserve running back Jason Marucci--also indicted--will be turned over to the U.S. Pretrial Services Office.
