Executive Increases Stake in Spear Financial Services

James K. Mitchell, an executive of Spear Financial Services Inc., has lifted his stake in the Glendale-based company to 9.3%.
Mitchell is president of James Mitchell & Co., a marketer of insurance-related investments purchased by Spear in 1988. Spear also operates a discount brokerage service.
As part of that purchase, Spear last month paid Mitchell $993,750 and 51,688 shares of Spear common stock, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mitchell now owns 693,798 Spear shares, the filing stated.
