WORLD IN BRIEF : CHINA : U.S. Opposes Nuclear Plant Sale to Iran

The United States said it opposes China’s agreement to supply Iran with a small nuclear power station. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher described the plan as “highly imprudent” and questioned whether Iran “can be trusted to live up to its commitments in the nuclear non-proliferation area.” Tehran had earlier agreed to acquire the 300-megawatt plant from China.
