VENTURA : Man Pays for Child Support With ‘Hog’

Given the choice between coughing up cash or parting with his “hog,” a Cambria man opted to turn over his Harley-Davidson motorcycle for back child-support payments, officials said Monday.
Hunter Jon Culp was ordered by Judge Pro Tem Hilary Shankin to deliver the motorcycle by 5 p.m. Sept. 9 or pay $5,000 to the Ventura County district attorney’s office, said C. Stan Trom, director of the child support division.
Culp, the father of an 11-year-old Ventura child, owes $43,000 in delinquent child support and welfare reimbursement, Trom said.
Promptly on the assigned day, Trom said, Culp delivered the 1981 FXS Harley-Davidson, valued at between $5,000 and $6,000. It will be sold at public auction, he said, at a date and location to be announced.
