National Merit Scholar Seminfinalists Named

Several local high school seniors were named semifinalists in the 1993 National Merit Scholarship program.
Glendale High School: Alexis O. Bicomong.
Hoover High School: Sean M. Gaffney.
Flintridge Preparatory School: Tamara F. Browne, Noel D. D’Angelo, Michael Q. Moody, Richard W. Petty, Eileen M. Shin, Robert J. Tucker and Yvonne Young.
St. Francis High School: Seth D. Brown and Aaron I. Johnson.
La Canada High School: Kevin S. Collins, Rebeca M. Hopkins, Katherine W. Hsu, Edwin H. Lee, Leslie H. Lee, Changjune J. Oh, Allison J. Reed, Jennifer L. Savary and Emily H. Wu.
Benjamin Franklin High School: Bryan L. Fong.
Immaculate Heart High School: Amy A. Brady.
John Marshall High School: Catherine R. Borden.
The semifinalists, who are about one-half of 1% of the state’s graduating class, qualified with high scores for the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
More than 15,000 high school seniors throughout the country will compete for 6,500 scholarships to be awarded in the spring.
