COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Sweeps East L.A. in Volleyball

Renee Gragnano had nine kills as Cypress defeated East Los Angeles in three games in a nonconference women’s volleyball match Wednesday at Cypress.

Cypress (1-1) won, 15-1, 15-11, 15-6. East Los Angeles is 0-2.

In other nonconference women’s volleyball:

Golden West 3, Grossmont 0--Becki Gehlke had 19 kills to lead Golden West (3-0) past Grossmont (0-1).

Orange Coast 3, Long Beach 2--Bryn Gillis had 17 kills for Orange Coast (1-0).

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Palomar 3, Golden West 2--Omar Benjoud had two goals, including the match-winner, for Palomar (1-2).

With six minutes left in the match, Andre Marduy of Golden West scored what appeared to be the tying goal but it was disallowed by the referee, who ruled that the bicycle kick was a dangerous play.

East Los Angeles 2, Orange Coast 0--Rafael Moreno and Harris Garcia scored for host East Los Angeles (4-0). Florian Frere had 14 saves for the Pirates (1-1).
