After Beating State’s Top Team, El Camino Enjoys a Week Off

The El Camino College football team has a week off after upsetting College of the Sequoias, 26-14, in its opener Saturday in Visalia.
Sequoias was ranked No. 1 in the state by the JC Athletic Bureau and El Camino was No. 4. In 1991, the Warriors opened with a 54-27 loss to Sequoias at Murdock Stadium in Torrance.
“It was a great win for us because they really spoiled the beginning of our season last year,” Warrior Coach John Featherstone said. “It was very exciting for our football team.”
Featherstone says he will take advantage of this week’s open date.
“It’s good because after one game you find out what your weaknesses are,” Featherstone said. “We’re going to figure out what they are and we’re going to work on them. We’re going back to teaching this week. Teaching and conditioning.”
El Camino plays Sept. 26 at Fullerton College. The home opener is Oct. 3 against Saddleback College.
