Honeywell Reaches Autofocus Settlements: Honeywell Inc. said it will receive $51.5 million in settlements with three more camera makers it says infringed on its patented technology for autofocus lenses. Olympus, Ansco Optical and Asahi, which makes Pentax cameras, will also pay future royalties and will be dropped from lawsuits alleging infringement of the patents, the Minneapolis-based company said. Honeywell previously announced autofocus settlements totaling $251.6 million from eight other camera makers: Canon, Kodak, Konica, Kyocera, Matsushita, Minolta, Nikon and Premier. Four companies--Chinon, Fuji Photo Film, Ricoh and Vivitar--remain the subject of Honeywell lawsuits filed earlier this year. Honeywell makes thermostats, factory controls, airplane electronics and other control devices.
