Police said racial hatred may have motivated the firebombing of a home where a black family lived. An explosive device was thrown into the family’s duplex Thursday night and a racial epithet was scrawled on the garage door, Chino Police Cpl. Russ Briones said. Officers who arrived after receiving a report that gunshots had been fired at the home said the front of the house had been hit by an explosive and that the family had fled the dwelling, which was on fire. The blaze, which destroyed the front of the home, was put out by firefighters in about 30 minutes, Chino Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Gaul said.
