Linford Christie added the World Cup title to his Olympic 100-meter gold medal, winning in Havana in 10.21 seconds. Christie’s victory, plus a surprise run by David Sharpe in the 800, helped Britain to first place in the men’s standings. The Commonwealth of Independent States, competing for the last time as a united team, heads the women’s table.
American Sandra Farmer-Patrick became the first woman to win consecutive World Cup 400 meters hurdles titles, winning in 55.38 seconds.
