Heavily favored Canyon High resorted to its familiar penchant for second-half comebacks, overcoming a 14-point deficit to turn back Alemany, 24-21, in a nonleague football game Friday night at Alemany High.
Matt George kicked a 25-yard field goal with 5 minutes 22 seconds to play to break a 21-21 tie and Canyon held Alemany (0-4-1) on a fourth-and-five play at the Cowboy 27-yard line with 29 seconds left.
Canyon, which had rallied in the second half to pull out two previous victories, improved to 4-1.
Cowboy tailback Ed Williams carried the ball 20 times for 96 yards and caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Sean Connelly to tie the score, 21-21, early in the fourth quarter.
Connelly completed six of 13 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
Alemany’s Chris Tashima ran for 171 yards in 19 carries and scored two first-half touchdowns.
