GARDEN GROVE — Running back Noah Tagatauli ran for 253 yards and scored three touchdowns, powering Los Amigos to a 31-6 victory over La Quinta at Garden Grove High.
Tagatauli, a 5-foot-7, 165-pound junior, scored on runs of six, 13 and 47 yards, but his best run did not end up in the end zone.
On first down from his own one-yard line, Tagatauli took the handoff from Ape Tuato and dazzled the homecoming crowd, racing 90 yards before he was dragged down at the La Quinta nine.
“I felt real good tonight,” Tagatauli said. “My line is always the key, and they were opening the big holes up for me.”
The Aztecs (1-4) scored their only touchdown with 5 minutes 13 seconds left in the second quarter. Quarterback Jason Gondringer, who completed 15 of 31 passes for 185 yards, hit Pat Wilson for a 21-yard touchdown.
Keuni Faamausili (11 carries, 58 yards) had a one-yard touchdown run for the Lobos (2-1-2).
