Coca-Cola Co. reported an 18.5% profit increase in the third quarter--to $540.6 million--on a 10.6% rise in revenue.
Its earnings per share of 41 cents were up from 34 cents in the 1991 quarter, when net income amounted to $456.3 million. Revenue rose to $3.5 billion from $3.2 billion last year.
The Atlanta-based company said U.S. sales to retail and fountain customers grew 2% by volume in the July-September quarter. Gallon shipments of concentrate and syrup increased 1%.
In Northeast Europe and Africa, unit case sales increased 10%, while gallon sales were up 5%. In the European Community, however, third-quarter unit case sales dropped 1%.
