Gardening : Flower District to Pay Rose Tribute in Open House Today

The Los Angeles Flower District, largest single flower market in the United States, will hold an Open House and Floral Showcase today, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., covering three city blocks in downtown Los Angeles centered along Wall Street, between 7th and 8th streets.

The theme “A Tribute to the Rose,” chosen because the rose is the national floral symbol of the United States, will be reflected in lavish displays of wholesalers, growers and suppliers, along with a variety of exotic plant life.

There will be slide shows, floral design demonstrations and food sampling provided by six Los Angeles restaurants. Sponsors include the American Florists Exchange, Southern California Growers and the Community Redevelopment Agency of the city of Los Angeles.
