One day after falling apart in a three-game loss to 13th-ranked New Mexico, the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team rebounded Saturday with a sweep of 23rd-ranked Notre Dame in the University of New Mexico tournament in Albuquerque.
The game scores were 15-8, 15-0, 15-11.
The Matadors hit a paltry .098 against New Mexico, but they easily surpassed that percentage with dynamic play at the net Saturday. Senior Dawn Krenik hit .455 with 10 kills--and four aces--and senior teammate Nancy Nicholls had a team-high 11 kills.
CSUN hit at a .299 clip.
Junior setter Alison Wool recorded 32 assists for Northridge (16-7), which had a five-game winning streak snapped in the loss to New Mexico.
For Notre Dame (16-4), Jessica Fiebelkorn hit .450 and recorded 11 kills, matching the kill total of teammate Christy Peters.
But Peters finished with a .140 hitting percentage and the mistake-prone Fighting Irish committed 22 errors in slumping to a .103 team average.
