Post-Riot Reforms
In your editorial you state that the “key question” before the special investigative panel (studying the Los Angeles riots of last April) is “could such a breakdown happen again?”
What do you mean “happen again”? Don’t you realize we are still under siege, in an ongoing crisis? How else do you understand the almost daily killing of innocent victims of random shootings on our freeways and streets, and in, of all places, our schoolyards and playgrounds?
Is Los Angeles really so crippled in its self-governance that it can’t take action in this matter without internal reform?
Perhaps the inmates have really taken over the asylum?
