AIDS CARE, a Ventura County nonprofit agency devoted to helping those with AIDS or the HIV virus, has received a $10,000 donation from the estate of Paul Gassaway, who had served as a volunteer.
Gassaway was a Ventura resident who died June 21, said Edie Brown, executive director of the Ventura-based agency. She said the donation was the largest ever received by AIDS CARE.
Gassaway was the founder and chief executive officer of Anchor Pad International, a Ventura manufacturing firm, she said.
“As a volunteer, he saw the agency from the inside,” she said. AIDS CARE, founded in 1985, has a caseload of about 125 clients with 150 volunteers helping them with everything from financial assistance to support groups.
