Phebus Advances to Tennis Semifinals

PACIFIC PALISADES — UCLA’s Keri Phebus, a former Corona del Mar High School standout, defeated Kristine Kurth of Stanford, 6-2, 6-1, Friday in the quarterfinals of the Riviera All-American Tennis Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Phebus, who entered the draw through the qualifying rounds, will play the tournament’s No. 2-seeded player and defending champion, Paloma Collantes of Mississippi, in a semifinal today.
