STILL A RECORD: Tuesday’s turnout in Orange County wasn’t quite what officials had predicted, but it was enough to set a numbers record. . . . Not all absentees are counted yet. But the registrar’s totals so far show 907,761 votes--a couple thousand more than 1988’s record turnout. But that’s due to county growth, which means more people registered. Percentagewise, the county dropped from 78% in 1988 down to the 74% range.
