‘Passenger 57’ Soars Past ‘Under Siege’
“Passenger 57,” the action picture starring Wesley Snipes, landed in first place for the weekend. Overall, ticket sales resumed a robust pace after dipping Halloween weekend. “Mighty Ducks” showed some improvement over the week before. “Last of the Mohicans” inched 5% higher. Meanwhile, “A River Runs Through It” continued upward--screens were added and box office jumped 19%. Steven Seagal’s “Under Siege” dropped slightly in its fifth weekend. With $59.4 million to date, it’s now the fall-season leader.
* “The Lover,” director Jean-Jacques Annaud’s steamy, interracial love story, drew big numbers in eight locations, and will expand this weekend.
