ARLETA : Chamber Sponsors Cleanup at School
- Share via
Community leaders, including Rep. Howard L. Berman (D-Panorama City), plan to wield brooms and other cleaning supplies today at Canterbury School in Arleta, tackling routine cleanup tasks that have been neglected since the Los Angeles Unified School District cut back on custodial services in an effort to save money.
According to Berman’s office, local businesses are supporting the cleanup effort by donating rakes, brooms, trash bags and use of a street sweeper for the project, plus food for hungry volunteers. The effort, sponsored by the Arleta Chamber of Commerce, will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The group will continue its efforts throughout the year, according to a press release provided by Berman, and will paint the school in the spring.
