COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Win First Volleyball Match of Season

Cal State Fullerton stopped a 25-match losing streak with a three-game sweep of Utah State in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match Friday at Fullerton.
Lisa Parbst had 15 kills for the Titans, who won, 15-7, 15-4, 15-4. Alyssa Donaldson added 11 kills for Fullerton ( 1-25, 1-15 in conference). Utah State is 3-25, 0-15.
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Western New Mexico 87, Christ College Irvine 81--Gitte Mejer had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Stacy Kirch had 12 points and 12 assists for host CCI (0-1). Leigh Trujillo and Katerina Tyunna each scored 24 points for Western New Mexico.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Hawaii Pacific 95, Christ College Irvine 60--Agustin Heredia scored 19 points for host CCI (0-1).
At the Rolex Southern California Women’s tennis championships:
Irvine pairs ousted--The doubles teams of Michelle Manley and Krista Kuechler and Cory Crigger and Ali Yoshimoto both lost their third-round matches at UC Irvine. Arizona State’s Page Bartelt, formerly of Capistrano Valley, lost a fourth-round match to Petra Schmitt of USC, 6-2, 6-1.
